Abstract

The rapid growth of digital payment technologies has significantly transformed consumer financial behavior and modern financial ecosystems. Digital payment platforms, including mobile wallets, online banking, QR code payments, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), contactless cards, and fintech applications, have improved transaction efficiency, financial inclusion, and customer convenience. This review examines the key factors influencing digital payment adoption and their impact on consumer financial behavior. It discusses technology adoption models, consumer trust, security, financial literacy, government initiatives, and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, and biometric authentication. The review also highlights current challenges including cybersecurity risks, privacy concerns, digital inequality, and regulatory issues. The findings indicate that digital payment systems are reshaping consumer spending patterns while promoting cashless economies and sustainable financial services.
